A smart home charger is worth comparing by the job it needs to do: schedule an overnight charge, report electricity use, work within a limited electrical supply or use surplus solar. Those are different capabilities, and the cheapest box may need extra equipment to provide them.
Compare scheduling, energy reporting and load-management features from Autel, Emporia, ChargePoint, Wallbox, United Chargers and Tesla. Installation cost and utility eligibility depend on your home and the exact configuration.
The Autel AC Lite and AC Elite Gear entries provide two configurations to compare. Match the connector and installation to your car; assess any load-management accessories separately.

Autel: Choose Plug-In or Hardwired
Compare the Autel AC Lite plug-in and AC Elite hardwired options in US Gear. Both offer app scheduling, charging history and optional RFID access. Choose the connection that suits your installation; a higher charger rating cannot override the vehicle’s AC limit.
| Autel charger | Connection and output | Useful features and fit |
|---|---|---|
| AC Lite 40A | NEMA 14-50 plug-in; up to 9.6kW at 240V | 25-ft J1772 cable and app scheduling; Tesla needs a compatible J1772 AC adapter |
| AC Elite 50A — separate holster | Hardwired; up to 12kW at 240V | 25-ft J1772 cable and separate connector holder; Tesla needs a compatible J1772 AC adapter |
RFID cards are separate purchases. For household load management with the Elite, include the compatible additional hardware and commissioning in the quote. Utility approval must cover the exact model and installation.
Match the Smart Feature to Your Need
| Your goal | What to compare | What to confirm |
|---|---|---|
| Charge during cheaper hours | Vehicle scheduling and charger scheduling | Your electricity tariff and whether two schedules conflict |
| Track home charging | Session energy, history and export options | Charger statistics versus whole-home electricity monitoring |
| Work with limited electrical capacity | Dynamic load management | Compatible meter, installation and commissioning costs |
| Use excess solar | Solar-aware control with household measurement | Required accessories and restrictions with multiple chargers |
| Join a utility offer | The utility’s actual eligible-equipment list | Exact model, enrolment, data access and payout conditions |
Emporia: Separate Classic From Pro
The key difference between Emporia Classic and Pro: Pro includes a Vue monitor and PowerSmart load management; Classic needs additional equipment and an upgrade for comparable functionality. Both offer scheduling, with up to 48A hardwired or 40A plugged in.
Compare the complete installed package if household monitoring or solar control is the reason you are buying. A lower advertised charger price is not a like-for-like comparison when the required monitor is missing.
ChargePoint Home Flex: Home and Public Charging in One App
Home Flex comes with J1772 or NACS connectors. The US hardwired configuration supports up to 50A; plug-in configurations are limited to 40A. Its app combines home controls with ChargePoint public-charging access.
That shared app may be convenient if you already use ChargePoint. It is not evidence that the hardware will qualify for your utility’s offer or deliver 50A to every car. ChargePoint Home Flex J1772 — Hardwired in Gear; confirm the exact model and connector in the listing.
Wallbox Pulsar Plus: Plan for the Power Meter
Pulsar Plus offers 40A and 48A variants. Dynamic load management and solar charging require a Wallbox power meter. Wallbox also states that solar charging is incompatible with multiple-charger installations and OCPP. Current US connector options include J1772 and NACS.
Include the meter and its installation in your quote. Ask the installer to confirm the complete configuration rather than assuming every advertised smart feature can run together. Wallbox Pulsar Plus 48A J1772 in Gear; confirm the exact model and connector in the listing.
Grizzl-E: Use the Current Model Name
United Chargers now lists Grizzl-E Classic Connect 40A with J1772 or NACS, Wi-Fi, the Grizzl-E Connect app and a 25-foot cable. At 240V, 40A corresponds to 9.6kW before charging losses.
Canadian rewards have separate eligibility. Do not apply them to a U.S. installation. Canadian readers can use our rewards comparison for program rates, commitments and payout rules.
Older Grizzl-E Smart listings are not automatically the same model. Confirm the exact unit and software support before carrying an older specification, OCPP claim or rewards approval into a buying decision. Browse Grizzl-E on Amazon US; confirm the exact model and connector in the listing.
Tesla Wall Connector Has Energy Reporting Too
The Tesla app for Wall Connector provides schedules and 12 months of charging history, including delivered energy and session duration. It should not be dismissed as having only limited energy monitoring; whole-home monitoring is a separate feature.
Tesla distinguishes static, dynamic and group power management. Dynamic management requires a separately purchased, approved meter; group management shares power between compatible Wall Connectors. These are different installation choices.
The standard Tesla Wall Connector uses NACS and supports up to 48A/11.5kW, subject to the vehicle and installation. It does not include the Universal model’s integrated J1772 adapter.
A Portable Charger May Already Meet the Need
A Tesla Mobile Connector supports up to 32A from a suitable 240V supply. If an approved outlet and your charging window already cover your driving, a new wall unit needs to justify its extra cost through features you will actually use. A 50A outlet does not turn Mobile Connector into a 40A or 50A charger.
Compare Installed Cost and Confirmed Benefits
Add the charger, required meter or adapters, labour, permits and any necessary electrical work. Keep ordinary time-of-use savings separate from rewards paid by a programme. Scheduling may already be available in your vehicle.
US incentive timing checked October 16, 2026: Confirm your service territory, installation date and exact equipment before including a rebate or utility payment. The federal Section 30C credit does not apply to equipment placed in service after June 30, 2026. See the IRS eligibility rules. No unconfirmed incentive is included in the recommendations.
Check state and utility programme listings and your provider’s current terms. A manufacturer’s participation in one programme does not establish eligibility in another.

Which One Fits Your Home?
Start with Autel AC Lite for a suitable plug-in installation or AC Elite for a hardwired installation when their app and access features meet your needs. Compare Emporia Pro when bundled household measurement is useful, Home Flex when its app arrangement suits you, Pulsar Plus when its supported energy-management configuration fits, and Classic Connect when its documented configuration meets your needs. Include the standard Tesla Wall Connector (NACS) in the same feature-based comparison.
Ask for comparable installed quotes, then use the US charger ROI calculator with your own energy prices and only confirmed incentives. The best fit is the charger that meets your requirements at a justified total cost.
