âš¡ THE QUICK TAKE
- Canada Updated:Â The Canadian Model Y configurator has been quietly updated with premium interior changes.
- The Details:Â Long Range and Performance models now feature a Black Headliner and a larger, crisper 16-inch QHD center display.
- The Catch:Â The base Rear-Wheel Drive (RWD) model retains the legacy grey headliner and standard screen.
Tesla has officially updated the Canadian Model Y configurator, bringing highly anticipated interior upgrades to the popular crossover. Following similar rollouts originating from Giga Shanghai and the U.S. market, Canadian buyers are finally catching up to global interior standards, receiving a taste of the rumored “Juniper” refresh without having to wait for a complete vehicle redesign.
Premium Cabin Upgrades
For buyers opting for the Long Range or Performance trims, the cabin experience just got a significant boost. The most noticeable aesthetic shift is the new default Black Headliner. This replaces the previous light grey fabric, providing a much more cohesive and premium feel that pairs perfectly with the recently updated steering wheel and ambient LED lighting.
Complementing the darker interior is a substantial hardware upgrade to the infotainment system. These higher trims are now shipping with a 16-inch QHD center display. This increases the screen real estate from the standard 15.4 inches while substantially bumping up the resolution and peak brightness for a sharper, more responsive user experience.
The Trim Level Catch
While this is massive value for prospective LR and Performance buyers, it highlights a clear segmentation strategy from Tesla. According to the current configurator, the base Rear-Wheel Drive (RWD) model does not receive these updates.
The entry-level RWD trim still retains the older 15.4-inch screen and the light grey headliner. If buyers want the premium “Juniper-lite” cabin experience, upgrading the vehicle trim is now a requirement.
