The useful questions about Tesla’s 2026 Summer Update are practical: can Grok handle a cabin task, will navigation suggest your next destination, and are entertainment controls easier to use?
Tesla’s current English-language manuals document several of those features. They do not establish that every feature below first arrived in version 2026.26 or reached every vehicle together. This guide was checked on October 20, 2026; use your car’s release notes to confirm its particular update.
Grok can handle more everyday requests
Tesla’s Grok support guide lists navigation, phone calls, music, climate and glovebox controls. Compatibility requires a supported vehicle with an AMD processor, suitable software and Premium Connectivity or Wi-Fi.
Select the Assistant personality for vehicle commands. The Model 3 manual also describes the “Hey Grok” wake phrase and vehicle questions based on the owner’s manual. Availability varies; check that a request produced the intended result.
Navigation can anticipate a familiar destination
Tesla’s navigation instructions describe Automatic Navigation using frequent destinations, time, day and location, alongside Home, Work and calendar events. Review the proposed destination before setting off.
The same manual documents searching Superchargers by name and setting a desired arrival charge level in the vehicle where available. It also explains adding stops in the mobile app and sending a trip to the car.
Phone-based arrival-charge settings and a “Preferred Routes” feature that learns favourite roads were not confirmed in the English documentation reviewed here. Check the controls your vehicle and app actually offer.
Media and cabin controls worth checking
Apple Music users can add songs to the queue from search results and artist pages, as described in Tesla’s media instructions.
On equipped vehicles, the touchscreen guide explains locking the rear display from the front and adjusting the driving visualization’s zoom. Follow the vehicle’s available settings; these controls do not change FSD’s supervision requirements.
For appearance changes, Tesla documents loading custom Paint Shop wraps from a USB drive in its entertainment guide. Follow those instructions unless your installed release explicitly offers another method.
Read the release notes before expecting the whole bundle
Tesla distributes updates in stages. Open Software → Release Notes to see the changes installed in your vehicle, following its update guidance.
A software download does not make every connected service free. Media accounts, connectivity and hardware requirements still apply. The most useful update is the one that improves a task you actually use, with its availability and limits clearly understood.
